What Are We Doing?

Cycling unassisted (that means no help from any group or company that arranges the logistics) from London to Paris in the spring of 2009, to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Why Are We Doing It?

Nick spent the first two years of his life in the Hospital with a serious heart condition and we had been thinking of ways in which we could make a contribution. The idea of cycling from London to Paris suddenly came up in conversation and sounded just far fetched enough to be a good idea!

What’s This Blog For?

Providing those with an interest in what we are doing with proof that we are spending our Sunday mornings on our bikes!

Finally you have managed to get yourselves out of bed on a Sunday morning! Why don’t you do something for charity for heaven’s sake?! Oh you are.! Well we’ll support you and what a fantastic thing to do. Hard to believe that Nick was that little scrap who couldn’t even crawl and now he is cycling to Paris – nothing short of a miracle.

Good luck guys. I just read about your trip in the Old Wrekinian record. Hope you don’t get hit by a train in the tunnel ;-)

  3. John Caplan says:

Hi guys – since it’s been well over two weeks since Elaine pestered me about supporting you, I will now;-)
Good luck and I think it’s a great thing you are doing; give my regards to la tour d’Eifel…

I see you’re off on the 27th April. Which way are you going? I’m riding London – Paris in June, via Newhaven and Dieppe (back the easy way – Eurostar). Hope all the training pays off and that you have an enjoyable ride. Bon voyage!

      Hi Bob,

We’re going London, Calais, Beauvais, Abbeville then Paris. I believe we’re following the same route as many other London to Paris rides. Getting a bit close though now, good luck for your ride in June.

  6. Bob Holland says:

    Monty,

That’s a good deal further than I’ll have to cycle but then you lot have much younger legs! All the best for an enjoyable ride. Try not to drink all the wine in Paris and leave a little for us in June!
